that is such a coincidence! I have less then hundred hats too!!
My high school English teacher, Miss Jenny Schooley, would be horrified that I wrote, "He has less than 100 hats," and was marked correct, even though Duolingo did give "He has fewer than 100 hats" as an alternate.
Why is it grammatically wrong to say so ? I'm also learning English not just Dutch ^^
Fewer is for numbers of things (e.g. fewer people, fewer items) and less is for amounts (e.g. less water, less sand) but most people use less in both cases.
