The difference is that Duolingo exercises requires words not numbers. They are not accepted, so it makes an exercises to spell them.

Shouldn't the translation be more along the lines of 'pergi ke tempat tidur'? The English sentence says 'go to bed' not 'go to sleep'. Even though they are often used interchangeably, they do not have quite the same meaning.

I googled the expression, and it has many many occurrences.

And if you say I go to bed at 9, it's not the same thing than I sleep at 9. You can go to bed at 9 and sleep at 11 for instance.
