Idea: There should be a place where people learning different language can help each other

I just went to the Learning English forum, and it was really fun. It'd be great to have a place where we can help each other learn each language. I was able to help a few people there with basic English mistakes, and it'd be great to see more of this. Just an idea :)

Each language has its own forum...

Yeah, but I would love to see more of an internet forum vs a current suggestions to duolingo. Categories would be great, especially an immersion category where you aren't allowed to speak your native tongue, over the current immersion where you can just read a bunch of articles.

Yeah but from what I see nobody wants to start a discussion-like post. Those that do, get downvoted immediately for, what I'm guessing, is for unrelated topics. And then there are those idiotic nonsense troll posts.

We're in that place right now?

livemocha.com does this. For example, I can buy Portuguese lessons with "coins", and get feedback (again purchased with coins) on the exercises I do from Portuguese speaking users. I can earn coins by giving feedback to those learning English.

The premise is nice, although it's not what it could be. I can't speak for other languages but the Portuguese course doesn't seem to be fully developed. A lot of thought has been put into Duolingo to make it visually attractive, well designed and addictive, which I'm not sure can be said of Livemocha.

But see for yourself, it is in no way a replacement for Duolingo, but I have found it useful for testing my speaking skills.

I was thinking about the same thing. It would be nice to be able to chat with someone learning English with French, while I am learning French with English... If we were matched based on level, that would be even better :D
