What is the difference between "por" and "para" ?

I know both of them are used as "for". but I don't know when I should use which one.Many of my sentences get wrong because of it.Please explain :)

Yes! Memorizing examples is fine, but if you can really understand the difference, it will help you so much more. The linked video is a personal favorite.

Similar to the video, I think of para as a "stop" and por like "pour (water)". Para generally has an end point, a por has more of a flowing quality.
