Is this an expression that implies one comb for each person or does it mean literally one comb for all to share? In each case, what would be a clearer way of saying it, please? Thank you

The correction says, that ragazze translates just "girls" not "children", whereas in another sentence "figli" can mean "sons" and "children". Not logic - or gender-blind?
