Question for Spanish speakers :)
If I were to say something like "I know that song" Or "do you know that song?" would I use saber or conocer? I think that it is conocer but I can't be sure so I need someone to clarify
Also can someone native Spanish or Portugues speaker add me on duolingo or facebook because I need people that can help me with these languages so that would be helpful but I have only been learning Portuguese for a short time. Here is the address if the link on my profile doesn't work: https://www.facebook.com/michael.j.geater
Thank you :)
I've always been under the impression that "saber" is "to know a fact or skill," while "conocer" is "to be familiar or acquainted with."
So I would use conocer when talking about being familiar with a song.
I was needing this to say something to my friend from Argentina who doesn't speak English and he responded back saying he didn't know the song using "conocer" so that must have been right, thanks for clarifying :)
hi!, I'm mexican and we use "¿te sabes la canción?" to know if you know the lyrics of the song, so that means you can sing it. But if you say "¿conoces la canción?" and if you say "yes", that means that you you've heard that song, you can identify it and not necessarily know the lyrics.
Yes Thank you so much for that clarification. In this instance I needed "conoces" because he didn't speak English and the lyrics were English lol
I'm Spaniard, and we use the questions "¿Conoces esa canión?", or "¿Sabes cuál es esa canción?.
there's a facebook group called "Duolingo: Spanish Learners" u might find useful
