A message regarding the new coach feature
For all of you that don't know, Duolingo has now released the coach feature onto the website, but it's not as good as the iOS version.
First off on iOS you could set different progressions for different languages e.g casual for Spanish and Insane for French
Secondly it seems to be that your day streak goes back to 0 if you don't complete your target(unless you have a streak freeze), because once I reached 50xp today I got a tick on the day streak. This didn't happen on iOS, it just said that you didn't meet your target yesterday and you don't lose your streak
Finally, you can't see how far you are from the next level, on iOS, it would show your amount of xp you have and are away from the next level
Now I know that Duolingo is trying something new, and I respect them for that, but they need to redesign the coach on here and there is one thing I would add to coach
This would be that you can create custom targets e.g 2 skills or 5 lessons or 100xp, this would be below insane and say Custom target and you would type in what you want, you could be able to do this differently for each language and if you fail, if you were on Duolingo that day, your day streak would continue but that target would reset to 0 e.g If I complete 3 lessons on a 152 day streak and my target was 5 lessons, my day streak would go up to 153 but my coach streak would go down to 0.
Also the xp bar would go where left of the Lingot Store sign.
If anyone could create an image of what that would look like, could you post it, because I don't know how to create that stuff.
If you agree with me, upvote this message in the hope that the Duolingo Team can see this
Wish I had read this earlier. I just lost all my streak score (52) because I didn't meet the daily goal. I set 50 as I didn't know the punishment would be that bad. There should be at least some warning!
:( must be awful for you. I felt like a mini heart attack seeing it went down to 0
Ouch, I feel so sorry for you. I've been staying well away from Coach for a while though.
You might not have the coach feature yet because Duolingo runs A/B tests for new features. That means that some groups will get the new features before others so that staff knows what works, what doesn't work, and what people do with the new features.
It's where the experience/level stuff is/was located. On the right of screen as soon as you come on Duolingo, right above "strengthen skill" and "real world practice." It's pretty hard to miss if you have it.
I am not a fan of the coach thing on iOS either. In fact, mine is messed up. One day it says that I met the goal, and then the next day it says that I didn't meet the goal for that particular day.
