What do you do for a living?

Hi everybody. I am already in college and I am student of Geology. It is a very difficult course but it is amazing also. We study much math, chemistry and physics. The part that is more interesting in my opinion, is that we travel a lot. We go to another cities to study the rocks and the other things that we learn in the class. Now, I am learning a little of english too. And you? What do you do for a living?

Hi, what is your name? Design should be a very interesting and funny course. In my college, the students of design are very stylish. People often say that design is the choice of who don't passed on test for architecture. I disagree. In my opinion, every course has your importance. I hate when people say that one course is better than the others. Students of civil engineering like to say that we will work for them or that we will receive a little of money to do the heavy work. hahaha Well, I am 19 years old. Sometimes I think that mine is a very difficult course and I will not graduate. This is one thing that worries me. Because I have already gave up another course. Before Geology, I did oil and gas engineering, but I didn't like it. This time I dont wanna give up. And I wont!! I hope to be a very successful professional. if there are any mistakes, sorry :(

Well.. There are really people that choose design because not pass in architecture.. I need to confess to you that design is really more easy than architecture or any other course of engeneering. But, still I'm on your side, each course has a purpose.

The students or professionals that I guess really win in their lifes, are those that wake up with a good mood and excited to start one more day and not those that are always making a lot of complaints all the time.

So.. doesn't matter what course or what career to choose.. It comes to how I can wake up one more day excited to win the life.

And about give up, don't worry. This make part of the process, this just mean you are trying one more time. It's much difficult to find the things that make move our lifes, you are looking for this way.

By the way, my name is Allan.

You are right, Allan. I agree with you. Wake up with a good mood and prepared to face the difficulties of the life is a wonderful thing. I would like to be this way every day. However, there are many things that stress us. In my case, the traffic, much noise and the worst, the heat. Here, in my city, is very hot. There are days when the temperature reaches 40 degrees. And, in these days, I cant keep with a good mood, complain of warmth all the time. hahahahaha. Nevertheless, I like to live here. It is a good city, and is in the middle of the Amazon forest. Has many beautiful places such as the Teatro Amazonas and the ''Encontro da águas''. People from other cities usually think that here only have Indians, animals, rivers and trees. That Is not true. It is a well developed city.

It's difficult, is not? Latelly here also has done much warmth, as like you, I hate!!! hahaha It's impossible to work, rest, sleep.. A long time I wish a air-conditioning, I hope that us we can get it one some day.

Very interesting, we are so far, I'm from São Paulo and I can imagine how you suffers with the prejudices...

Can you speak me a bit about the "Encontro da águas"? Yes.. I could to search it in the google, but I prefer to read direct from you..

I can try to explain you. hahaha Is basically the encounter of two rivers which have different colors. One of them is the Rio negro which is black. And the other, has a brown color, o Rio Solimões. They do not mix because of the difference of temperature. You can see the pictures on google. It is very interesting. I confess that even living here for more than fifteen years, I just went there once . To go there we need to take a boat. I have afraid of boating. And what about your city? What do you like more?

oohh noo... I can't believe you afraid have boating haha. I think its really fun boat rides! I saw videos on youtube, its really interesting how the rivers do not mix. You need to go there more times!!

In fact, today I live in the countryside of Sao Paulo, we have a lot of bars, clubs and principally parties, but nothing more that this.. When I was in Sao Paulo, I used to go to the "Paulista" and "Liberdade". The Liberdade is a chinese neighborhood, like a chinetown.. And Paulista, its a avenue more big and popular of Sao Paulo.. has a nice architecture and the stores, shoppings, streets are very modern..

Are you crazy? And if the boat turns? Just kidding. It is a fear controllable. Chinese neighborhood? It must be amazing. Culture chinese is very interesting and beautiful. I don't know much about it. However, I like chinese food. :D I have already heard a lot about Paulista avenue. Must be very cool to live in sp. You have subway. This is awesome. hahaha Believe me. Nevertheless, as I told you, I like to live here in the north. Can you imagine how is to live in Amazonia?

I personally love the chinese culture, I have many influences.. Yakisoba is so delicious.. hahaha... I like siopao too, look it later, typical muffie that can be made fried or steam. I would rather by steam.

Regarding the subway, its really nice, many people prefer subway rather than car because his practicality, but also there a lot of complaints for various reasons... One of them is because the ticket price never stop to increase .. The subways are always crowded and not cover nor half of half city..

However, still such is good, we have facilities for a certain moments...

I have no ideia of how is live in Amazonia, please, tell me a little.

hey, this siopao looks great. I saw on google. hahahaha crowded bus is very common here too. I like to live here because I love nature. And Amazonia is the habitat of many species of animals and exotics plants. There are many beautiful things to see here. However there is much deforestation too. We hardly see the trees in the streets of Manaus. Only building and houses. It is more common to see nature preserved in the countrysides. There is a city called Presidente Figueiredo that is very famous because there is a lot of waterfalls there. Me and my classmates had the opportunity to go to one of those waterfalls that was formed above of a sedimentary rock, the arenito( I have no idea of how to say this in english). The bad point is that takes so much time to arrive there. Here in Amazonas, the others cities are very distant from the capital .

hey Debora, I'm sorry for my delay..

It's really a pity about the deforestation question, I also like very much nature, the green color its so important for us.. These same days I was thinking about some trail or waterfall to go with my friends..

Presidente Figueiredo looks great, at the moment, a waterfall like that would be perfect! This month here in countryside is so warmth, I'm really suffering with it.

It is ok, alan. I was very busy these weeks. I have many tests this month. Tomorrow i have a test about minerals. I need to know the name of fifty them and their properties. I am studying but I am not confident. It's funny because now it is raining a lot here. In the last months of the year the city is a little cold. I am liking it. However, even raining, I would like to go to Presidente Figueiredo now. I like adventure. But, I have no car , no money and time.

So... I guess you already made the test, how were you? Do you get remember the majority of minerals? I hope yes haha..

Soon you will can to travel, just be patient haha.. I also wanted to travel now, as a matter of fact, I wanted to have something for to do in the final of year, maybe I can to find a friend that agree to travel with me..

well, i think I can get a good grade haha. I remember the most important like quartz, diamond, gold and others. Hey Allan, you are a lucky guy. I cant travel and do something on the end of the year. In my college, our vacation is only in May because the calendar is delayed. This is horrible, isnt it? :( I hope you find someone to travel with you. I am not studying very well. As I told you, I am busy. However, I can practice a little every day.
