Duolingo for the deaf

Duolingo is a great tool. We all know that. Here is a change though that I think would help it capture a wider audience. I recently sat with a deaf person who told me, "It says to "Type What I hear" and I can' hear anything." With that in mind I think it might make sense to have a duolingo profile which allows someone to opt out of the "Type What You Hear" exercises. You might see many more deaf people using this tool. Many of them want to learn to read and write new languages and translate articles on the web as well.

You can turn the speaker off and you will not receive those exercises. :)

The weird thing is, when I turn my microphone and speakers off, the exercises still come back.

They shouldn't, though. :/ I have my speakers off, and they never appear for me. Are you saving the changes at the top of the page after you turn them off? Have you tried logging out after doing so?

Yah, it's in settings. Just turn off microphone and speakers. When I found out about the site I was dating a deaf person, and they've had that option since the beginning.

Or perhaps Duolingo could incorporate ASL into their program for those who are deaf.
