"Lo" as complement of a direct object for a person or a thing?

It seems to me that "Lo rechazo completamente." can be translated by "I reject it completely." although Duolingo considers it a mistake. I thought "lo" could replace a person or a thing (as complement of a direct object). Is it me who is wrong or Duolingo?

Yes, without any context they both could be correct. You could report this with the "Still think you're correct?" link.

I think you're correct. What did Duolingo say was the correct answer?

"I reject him completely." Which I think is also correct.
