They corrected me to "Do you have a lilac dress?". I've never even seen this word in my life.

"Purple" is also accepted as the correct translation. Sometimes the ones it picks to show you when you get it wrong don't seem to be the closest to what you wrote

"Lilac" is actually a plant, a bush which blooms in the spring. The colors are from white to various shades of violet/ purple. And smells very good. It is very popular in Latvia but it is also sometimes to see in Denmark.
