I'm Italian and I'm studying English. I also study Spanish and French and I'd like to know how is the subjunctive in English. Does anybody know it?

Usually in modern English the subjunctive is lost, but it's still correct to say "I wish I were there" instead of "I wish I was there". But you hear both pretty often.

And there are really antiquated sentences like "I desire that he be here" but nobody talks like that anymore. You would say "I want him to be here", using the infinitive instead of the subjunctive.

Maybe you could give us some specific examples of English sentences you are looking at?

Secondo me, il congiuntivo non รจ spesso usato in inglese.
