Help with Portuguese IT terms

Hi,

I work in IT, I speak English and Spanish fluently, and I am learning Portuguese.

I have to write an email asking questions about files, servers, email, domains and things like that. It is not very complicated, but I am having a hard time passing that to Portuguese. Any help will be appreciated.

Best,

David

OK, so basically I need how to translate these terms:

Home-grown applications (as if a company created an applications for their own purposes) Post migration Application (like software) Data Database To cut over an application

I know I can get these things from Google Translate, but I need a human touch. If yo don't mind.

Could you separate the words by commas? It's hard to tell what you want us to translate.
As a programmer, I would translate them as follows:

  • Home-grown applications: Aplicações de uso interno
  • Post-migration application: Aplicação pós-migração (I have never heard of that, maybe a context would help to translate it more accurately)
  • Data: Dados
  • Database: Banco de dados / Base de dados (the first one is more frequently used)

Give us a context where you would use "to cut over an application".

Ok... im not into computers, but ill do some research with some experts, then i may get a sharp definition. Meanwhile, some technophile/whiz/geek/nerd can show up here and clarify those points too =)

Hi guys, sorry for not replying till now. Thanks very much, your translations make all sense to me and, fortunately enough, to the guys in Brazil that needed the information. Paul and Wesley, thanks a lot.
