How do I change my "coach" option. Is there any benefit from having it high.
I set my coach option ridiculously low and now want to change it but don't know how. And aside from the personal motivation are there any benefits having it having it high.
If you don't reach that goal you lose your streak. Some people find that highly motivating. That said, if you choose to lower it, do so, save, then log out and back in to make sure the new setting sticks ;)
PS there are supposed to be some patches for the tech probs it was experiencing as a test feature. The wiki has a troubleshooting guide for those. They should be fixed, but it might be good to have a read through. Just google duolingo wiki coach troubleshooting guide. ( I'm half asleep and ipad or i'd snag the link. Im headed to bed though. Nigh nighs jaye16 :)
Go to Settings, then Coach, Jaye. Nope, no added benefits. But, be careful about that streak. :) I don't know if there are any problems with switching goals, I've never tried it.
Guess you never set your goal to 1. Please, stop laughing. Seriously many thanks for the super speedy and helpful advice.
Really? And I just changed it. Well let me push myself for a while and if I find myself burning the midnight oil I'll go back to 1. Many thanks again.
Ha ha, yep. I'm not taking any chances with this streak. Of course, my pleasure.
I lost my first streak when it was over 200, then again a few months later. And yes it was disappointing, while I never paid attention to xps I did want that streak. Best wishes for a long, long streak.
Bummer twice over. Third time is the charm!
Thanks! This one I want to take to a year at least. :)
I've set my coach goal to 1 as well. I don't enjoy being artificially/extrinsically pushed to do work. That saps my enjoyment. Keeping my streak going each day is currently important, and when I'm on the site or iOS app, I usually end up doing more than the coach would have demanded anyway.
Ha ha, I'm fine with everything until someone tells me I have to do it. ;) Well, yes, you and Jaye16 are translating monsters!
Never thought being called a monster could be such a compliment so thank you; but I don't think I do that much translating. Actually, I find it relaxing-until a troll comes along. Then I pack it in for a few days which I have done now. Thanks again and I'm sure you'll reach your goal, plus!
Monster!! After I stopped chuckling, I've caught my breath to say thank you for such a cool compliment! Have you ever eaten a Monstera deliciosa? A few are just about to ripen on the plant in my front garden. Locally we tend to call them Monsterio, and they are yummy to-die-for delicious.
Ha ha, I've never seen people get so giddy after being called monsters. ;) You're welcome! No, I haven't, but looking at your picture below, I've seen them around before. ;)
I had to look up Monstera deliciosa. The leaves look familiar but I don't know if it's the same plant I know in Greece and I never knew the fruit was edible. Don't ask me what it's called in any language; I'm not great at botany. All my house plants are of the yellow leaf species. :-) I'm changing my coach goal now. Who needs stress when I'm doing something I like. Thanks for the tip.
Yup, there are two types of plants with the big green split leaves. Monstera leaves are deep green and have holes as well as the splits. Philodendron leaves only have the splits, and they don't bear edible fruit. I'll see if I can find a side by side photo of the two plants.
Here we go...
5string And, there I was feeling chicken. Everyday is a learning day. Thanks for that I appreciate it. When I lost my streak-both times-I was in a place without wifi. Yes, there are still such places and was it ever frustrating. As I told Alexis, if it gets stressful I'll change back.
Hehe. Mine will remain firmly set on 1. That urge to practise and how much has to come from within me. I'm with Alexis, I'm right until someone tells me I have to do it. Language leaning combined with stress is not so good for laying down new memory.
