Listen to it. If you're not ready for radio stations, there is a ton of Spanish language music out there with which you can start to train your ear.

  • Find short clips, try to mimic the sounds. Get familiar with the vowel sounds.
  • You have two ears, one mouth. Listen, listen, listen. Listen to children stories, audio books, movies, cartoons, etc.
  • Do you have a personal mobile music player? Is it filled with Spanish music?
  • Don't be afraid to use simple expressions like hola, qué tal, buen día

Converse with your Columbian next door neighbor. Get a Mexican girlfriend. :) Talk to that new Puerto Rican kid in your homeroom. Also, if you look up enough things on the internet in Spanish, they will automatically start throwing Spanish advertisements and commercials at you (with sound!) That's what happened to me anyway.

News in Slow Spanish. You have to pay for the flashcards, transcripts, etc. but the podcast is free from iTunes.

Extr@ en Español. Look for it on YouTube.

Watch familiar DVD movies with the Spanish soundtrack enabled.

Put Spanish music on your mobile device and listen to it instead of English speaking music. Look up the lyrics (Google the name of the song and "letra" - letra means lyrics). Translate them. Learn new vocabulary, learn to hear the words, sing along and improve your speaking ability.

Do you have Hulu where you are? They have an entire Latino genre, frequently with CC.
