On the dropdown from your flag select 新しいコースを追加 Add a new course, it should be at the bottom. Then in the pull down menu next to 私が話す言語 I speak select 英語 English, it should be third from the top. Then select a course there like スパイン語 Spanish. Finally hit the big button probably labelled コースを切り替える Switch to course and you should be back to Spanish for English speakers with an English GUI.

Try this: https://www.duolingo.com/settings/direction Don't click on ANY of the grey text. Just use the languages menu (blue text). Click it and a list of courses should drop down. The courses that will have English as the base language will be written in English. So, just look for the one near the top of the list that says I know English I want to learn Spanish I hope this helps! I will come back once I update the wiki to post a screen shot. :)

Another way to do it is to follow the steps outlined in the Wiki Here (The wiki has step by step pictures that are now updated. ^_^) Using these steps ensures that you will always know how to change the course even if you forget the direct url.

Here is the one bchan, a moderator, gave us: https://www.duolingo.com/course/es/en/Learn-Spanish-Online Just click on the white encircled button with white text and Poof! You are back in English. If you did not want to learn Spanish from English, click on the words "All Courses" on the top left of the picture. and choose the one you want. (Note that was the page I was trying to give you before.) Of course, "All Courses" on this page means "all courses available from this base language."

( https://www.duolingo.com/courses comes up in the language you are currently in, but top right corner in the button click on down arrow and choose English from the menu of languages.. It will replace the word for the language you are currently in which is in the language you are currently in, in gray on white encircled by gray. The only trouble is with a different script like Chinese, how will you recognize the word English in Chinese? 英語 ) SEE below:

That step will require them to navigate text that won't be in their language in order to understand. I've got the direct link to the language menu at the top of my post. It just isn't turning blue for some reason. I've tested the link in mine, and it works. Any idea on how I can activate it?

(Sorry, the link I gave doesn't come up in English. I found the link I was looking for from the moderator Bchan. See above. The language menu requires navigating text. The above link involves clicking on a button under a picture. I just copied and pasted your link and it worked. I don't know why it wouldn't work for you.)

Here is your link which also comes up in the language that you are currently in: https://www.duolingo.com/settings/direction

In the blue words on white background with the blue circle around it, press the down arrow to see a menu of many languages. Choose one in English. Usagiboy is right: clicking on any of the blue text brings up the menu.

Look, this will get you right to French from English: https://www.duolingo.com/course/fr/en/Learn-French-Online Just click on the white encircled button with white text and Poof! You are back in English. If you did not want to learn French from English, click on the words "All Courses" on the top left of the picture. and choose the one you want.

Do you see the pattern: https://www.duolingo.com/course + /language you want to learn/en/ The last phrase comes up by itself in the language you happen to be in. Of course, only two first letters of language you want to learn are used.
