Exercises mostly ask for translations to English instead of the other way around

It seems to me that for the most part, the exercises (at least in French) ask for translations from the foreign language to English. Another chunk is the oral exercises where you write what you hear (in the foreign language).

What I miss is testing my knowledge going from English to French. Could it be that these exercises are much less frequent? Is there a reason for that? When I pass the lessons, I'm never quite sure if I would be able to use the words I was supposed to learn in a conversation, as I often don't have to prove I can come up with them.
