"Out or inside" does not work ?

"Out or inside" sounds a little mixed up. It accepts both "outside and inside" and "out or in", though.

Can it be translated as "are you out or in"?

Ud eller ind -- does this work also?

Ud and ind are for motion -> get out of my bar, she sits in the bus Ude and inde are for location -> I live outside, he is lying inside

Outside or in? is exactly how many (american) english speakers would phrase it. Just like in danish, a lot is often implied (but apparently not accepted by duolingo)

Before I make a false report, can anybody tell me whether "outdoors or indoors" would also be correct? If not, how would Danish say that?

Actually we have the same words, "indendørs" and "udendørs". In spirit they often mean the same as "inde/ude" (depending on context of course) and "indenfor/udenfor", though it does underline the fact that you are inside/outside a house. I'll leave it up to the contributors to figure out whether to accept it. But as of right now indoors and outdoors are not accepted as alternatives.
