Swedish for English speakers is now in beta!
I'm excited to announce that the Swedish for English speakers course is now in beta! A big congrats to the Incubator volunteers that helped build this course: Arnauti, Anrui, Blehg, Anders91, Sholeh, Gealach24, and cpwetterqv.
If you encounter any issues (bugs or missing translations) please make sure to report them! This helps improve the course for future learners.
Congratulations to the entire team and thanks for adding to the language collection! Duolingo got better today because of you!
Congrats! It's so great to see another Scandinavian language on Duolingo.
It's great that there is a website which give free languages to anyone! Wonder what it will be like in five years; will we have made a lesson for most languages? Thanks, happy learning! :)
Woo thank you so much Duolingo team and the contributors.
Now Swedish is out of the incubator and into Beta, can we put Croatian in the incubator???
That would be so awesome. My native language going out of the incubator and the language I want to learn more than anything (which also could have been a native language of mine...) going in haha.
HOW ARE YOU LEVEL 10 ALREADY OH MY GOSH YOU ARE THE DUOLINGO GOD HERES A LINGOT
Basically I took the placement test. Haha. I already know Swedish. Thanks for the lingot though hehe. :D
Congrats Swedish team! I'm happy to start learning the one language I've always wanted to learn.
Tack så mycket Team Swedish!! Even before this course made it to beta, it changed lives and brought me closer to a family member that I had not connected with previously. So, this means a lot to me just that it exists. I'll be studying more seriously in about a year. But, I'm already having fun peeking a bit early. :D
Congrats, everybody! :D I love the course! I just finished basics one! :D Jag är en man! ;D
Congrats team Swedish! Only... ::cries:: the audio is soooo bad...kind of much worse than Italian's audio... I debated turning off my speakers but I kind of want to learn the pronunciation as I go... Swedish speakers: are the words at least being pronounced correctly? Setting aside how unnatural and hard to listen to it is, is the voice at least getting the vowels and consonants correct?
Well, she sounds stupid. As if she doesn't have a clue what she is talking about. Which makes sense of course :).
I'm not sure if they slowed it down or tweaked it, or if I'm just getting used to it...but I swear when I first started the course it sounded like the bald people from the future on that episode of South Park...
Yay! Thanks Swedish team!
I was the 555th person to enrol in the course haha.
I've done the first lesson and I'll be back for more when I'm done with work! :)
Congratulations, Team Swedish! Off to my quest of learning the major Nordic languages :D
Congratulations Team Swedish! It's nice to see that another really cool language has been released!
How the heck did I miss this? Congrats to the Swedish team! :D
EDIT: 9 languages for English speakers and counting! That's 10 flags total you can have on your user flair (including the American flag because of reverse courses).
While most linguists say to only learn two languages at a time, duo is making that very difficult ;)
I am so excited! Thanks to all volunteers :D
If you ever plan on adding a Korean course, I'd love to help. 나중에 한국어 레슨 추가할 계획이 있으면 저도 도워주고 싶습니다.
Yes!! Now this is how you attract more users and increase retention among existing ones.
Congrats to team Duo and the Swedish team on the on time delivery!
(Probably the first course that pre-announced the beta launch date).
Congratulations to all the volunteers for creating this course. I was waiting for a possibility to learn Swedish with Duolingo. My dream just come true. \o/ Thank you.
Perfect! I can't wait to have this on the mobile app so I can learn anytime on the go. Thank you!
Thank you so so much! It has been hard for me to find a good Swedish course. So very grateful.
One question: Does anyone know around when the app will be updated so that I can study Swedish on my phone?
Would love to have the app now as its really badly optimized on mobile browsers!
It's okay on an ipad. I use the app on my phone, but on my ipad I use the website as you don't get access to the tips, or the discussions on the sentences when using the app :(
thanks for adding this--it has been a dream of mine to learn this language for ages
It's not available yet. But, it's available on the Android and will likely be available on the iPhone at the next update. You can, however, access the website from your ipad. It's not perfect because the website stuff wasn't made for the ipad. But, I often use it anyway. :)
Thanks for the very quick reply! I'm refreshing my Danish so maybe once I'm finished that it'll be available! I appreciate you getting back to me! :-)
I actually prefer to use the website on the ipad and only use the app on the phone. You cannot access discussions or tips and notes on the app.
I am trying to access Swedish via my App on an Ipad but can't find it! What am I doing wrong?
Hi guys! Greate course, thank you! Could you please advise which level (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_European_Framework_of_Reference_for_Languages) matches the knowledge acquired after the last lesson here?
