Whats the deal with these?? I understand they arent literal translations from the english sayings to the italian versions, but with the format of teaching this site uses its extremely frustrating to try and guess what they mean. Could this site possibly revise that section please?
Yep the first time through it's pretty much a c**p shoot and then you are up for the challenge to see how much the old pea brain can recall and regurgitate. Don't expect to get through with all your shiney hearts intact the first few times. I liked the opportunity to see the world through another perspective. Lots of discussion. I learned a lot. :-D
I deal with the idioms the same way that I deal with crossword puzzle answers that have odd spelling: I accept that they are odd, and that it will take a long time for me to remember them.
Idioms are only a small part of the sentences in a lesson (and not in every lesson, either), and the rest of the lesson is the important part.
They keep you humble.
You're going along, translating this sentence and that, and you think, "Hey! I'm pretty good at this!". And then an idiom comes along, and proves that you're not. Oh, well!
