Prepositions - Paul must listen
It says in the notes that Tá ar Phól éisteacht is Paul must listen... But essentially is not Paul must listen as He must listen.. Would you not therefore have Tá air Phól éisteacht - that would seem more logical to me (but therefore probably incorrect since we're talking human language :D
That note in Prepositions 1 is correct. There are multiple ways of expressing the modal “must” in Irish; this is one of them. The literal translation of Tá ar Phól éisteacht. would be “Is on Paul to listen.”; despite being in a prepositional phrase, Pól is the subject of that sentence. It might make more sense if tá ar is thought of as an auxiliary verb.
