Hi all :) I'm looking for some new Spanish shows or movies to watch, does anyone have any recommendations? All I've seen so far is 'El laberinto del Pan' and 'Todo sobre mi madre'. Stuff with a Spanish accent is preferred (as opposed to Latin American) but I'll try anything. So, what are some of your favourites? -Aisha

Movies by Pedro Almodovar are extremely strange, but entertaining.

You can see any movie you like to see but in spanish. I mean, for example "The Hunger Games" but you search it with the spanish title "Los Juegos del Hambre" But search the movies in "español latino" not "español españa", or also you can with songs in spanish, searching the artists, for example... Ricky Martin "Adiós",, use your imagination :D. My own advice: You can Learn with "EnchufeTV" ( https://www.youtube.com/user/enchufetv) . It is not an account dedicated to learn spanish, it is an account made for make laugh the spanish people, but, cause they speak spanish (español latino) you can learn how they speak and other things...and maybe laugh with them.... :D

If you are in the USA, Hulu has a great series called "The Time in Between". http://www.hulu.com/watch/654235 I don't think Hulu is available outside the USA but I could be wrong.

If you're on a mac, I've heard good things about 'HMA' being used to access Netflix from other countries.

Searching on file-sharing sites for 'temporada' will return tv shows in Spanish with complete seasons. But, be careful, it's also the same word for 'season' in Portuguese. Just make sure there's also something like latino, castellano, Español, etc, in the title.

Ahhh! There are so many wonderful movies! If you like "El Laberinto del Fauno" & Guillermo del Toro, you should definitely check out "Cronos". It's del Toro's first feature film and my absolute favorite movie. I also love "Los Paranoicos", "Medianeras", "Sin Nombre"... I could really go on for ages on this one :]

Also, if you are looking for movies, google translate often does a good of giving the actual title in Spanish (as opposed to a simple direct translation). My general experience is, it's often a lot easier to find translated american movies than actual Spanish or latino movies (sadly…), same goes for tv shows.

thanks everyone! you've given me a good place to start. One other thing though- I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a dubbed version of Friends? Been looking all around the internet but all of them have been taken down :(

I actually bought the american version of the DVDs, it came with Spanish audio. Also I forgot to mention that most major american TV stations come with SAP (second audio program).

It's a function on TVs that allows to change to an alternative audio (usually Spanish). I think all the Sunday night cartoons on FOX have an alternative Spanish audio as an example.

I love "El secreto de sus ojos" (Argentina) :)

Also: Try http://series.ly. It's a spanish language website where you can watch any movie or series. Foreign movies are dubbed/subbed in spanish.

I gave them my email address (so they could send a confirmation email) that went into my "junk mail" folder. Then when I clicked the link to finalize the account creation they wanted way too much information about me. My age, my level of education, my zip code, my real name, my profession... It just smelled like one of those websites that would sell my email address to spammers and scammers. Too bad I already gave mine to them :(

I'm not saying it's a bad site; I've never used it. I'm just saying be careful, and if you have a "fake" email account use it to register instead of your real one where your friends email you.

My spanish boyfriend said that a lot of people in spain and latin america use it and that it's like facebook for people who watch films/shows. Just leave those parts where they ask for information blank. I did use a backup email though just in case because I wasn't so sure too when I started using it. It's where I watch all my shows now, it's always up to date. :)

I tried leaving them blank and it wouldn't let me proceed. That's when I cancelled out. It sounds like a decent resource if you have a throw-away email account.

I really liked Los Cronocrímenes. It has a fautless storyline (I watched it back to try to pick out errors but I found none)

Fermat's Room, (La habitacion de Fermat) Bad Education, (La mala educacion) The Skin I Live In, (La piel que habito) Sidewalls, (Medianeras) [REC], (There's also [REC]2 and [REC]3 but those don't seem that good) Tesis and if you've seen the English film Vanilla Sky I would also recommend the original Spanish version of that, Open Your Eyes. (Abre los ojos) You can find extra info and trailers on all of these movies on IMDB, as well as Parental Guidance because some of them are VERY dark and intense.
