Using Kindle Paperwhite to learn foreign language.
Here's how to use Kindle Paperwhite to make great flashcards, I am sure other devices can be used this way too.
On the Paperwhite you can set a default dictionary for each language, this includes dual language dictionaries.
Not all dictionaries work as well, it has to do with the formatting, so you might need to google around to find what works best for your language.
You need to download a dictionary and then set it as the default here:
Settings >Device Options>Language and Dictionaries
After some trial and error, I found that the New Dictionary HISPANO Spanish-English v3.0 works well for Spanish/English.
Now when reading in Spanish, I can tap a word for the definition and get a pop up with the translation, infinitive, usage examples and conjugation.
With the vocabulary builder turned on, words I look up are auto saved as flashcards with all this info and the original context I looked it up. No more writing flashcards! To turn this on:
Settings >Device Options>Reading Options>Vocabulary Builder
The ease with which one can lookup new words directly in the dictionary is one feature I love on my Sony PRS-T2.
I agree. I love the flashcard feature, just wish I could set a second default dictionary so if the term isn't in the dictionary I set it would default there, instead of wikipedia. SO much easier than reading with a paper dictionary, it makes it feel almost like I am reading in English (well, not really, I have to think harder), but it becomes a pleasure instead of just something I do for learning purposes.
