Are "i dag" and "idag" completely interchangeable?

Yes, it’s usually recommended to write them apart and that’s what newspapers do for example. But just as many if not more write them together. Both are acceptable. Same goes for ”igår” etc.

Could someone explain why "Ar i dag fredag?" would not work? Thanks in advance!

When "idag" is also correct and a lot of the Swedes use it that way (also imorgon, ikväll,...) why is it marked as a typo? It is just a different way of writing but it is still correct. May it would be better to note it as a different way of answer??

You find the same thing in old English, people used to write 'to day' and 'to morrow' etc. But in modern English we write today, tomorrow.

Not the sentence you want to see on Monday night...

There is no correct alternative to select.

So, I tried to put this as "idag" or "i dag" and both failed. Is there a bug in the system or what gives? Why did it fail with "Är det fredag i dag" and "Är det fredag idag".
