If my translation doesn't pass the automatic checker, does that mean it won't be rated by other users?
I often have to rephrase things to make them work in English. This happens any time there's an expression or idiom, or often just to make the sentence flow better in English.
Maybe not, but who cares? You've done the mental exercise and actually practiced a higher-order skill by moving beyond word by word translation into the realm of cultural appropriateness and melody of the language. Pat yourself on the back and move on.
Well, sure. But if part of the point of Duolingo is to come up with good translations, then it makes sense for real people to have a chance to rate all the responses. I was just wondering if the translations that fail the automatic checker are culled.
