Has anyone else found that Adjectives 4 has simply terrible translations into English, which repeatedly mark you wrong for writing well? I keep having to go back because I don't remember the very odd versions they give.
Just write the strange translations down and consult your notes when you meet those phrases again. You won't learn French very well on that moment, but you can pass on to the next exercise.
I'm having this trouble too. Example: Il est là pour faire un état des choses actuelles. They give: He is there to make a state of current things. ??
I struggled with that one too. But the translation as such is correct if you see the word "state" as a "survey/survey report". The DuoLingo translation is just a bit awkward.
Oh yes, I can see what it means..but I still get marked wrong and have to repeat the lessons when there are too many like that :( I put 'establish the state of,' but was marked wrong. To me their translation isn't just awkward, it's meaningless in English.
@ vizen: Anyway, if you think they have translated wrongly, use te feedback. When you are translating it comes under the heading "you still think you're right?" When you have to write it down in a dictation, you can use the feedback button in l the left margin.
Unfortunately one can use feedback repeatedly but they don't/can't correct all these things immediately. As for "state" it doesn't mean a report and is rubbish English. A "statement" would be nearer the mark.
