About the latest Android update
So I've just updated the app on my Android and I must tell you, as a mobile developer and as someone who uses duolingo mostly on his smartphone, that the new bottom bar that says "You've extended your X day streak" is completely useless. I can already see this information on my profile page, so there's no need to take up space on the tree page. The bar is as large as my index finger...
It doesn't really take up space on mine, just pops up, and eventually goes away. It is annoying though.
Mine doesn't go away :(
Edit (3/12/14): it now goes away after a few seconds.
After having thevproblem with a disappeared settings tab ( i started another thread on it though no one else seemed to have the same issue) i came on to the android app this morning, several days after i updated it, to find that it imposes a setting of s daily target.
Question: If i miss this does it then remove my streak as discussed in another thread? I know this thing is free, and very good, but it seems very bad form to impose these changes without at least telling folk.
If you don't hit your daily goal that you have personally set then you do not continue your daily streak. Generally the streak is set to the lowest setting until adjusted by the user, one xp point, which can be achieved through nearly any activity on duolingo.
The android app seems to force you to nominate a mninimum of 10 though. I have since gone into the pc web version snd changed it to 1, which is of course what it always was before.
I noticed that too on the day I updated. Opened settings to check for any differences and noticed it had a minimum of 10 or 20, which was not set by me. I had it set to 1 before the update.
I'm not sure, I travel between the both of them very very frequently so I can't say what it was actually set at. Points being though, it is very low and you have to achieve the standard set by you or duolingo to proceed with a streak. 1-20 points is not that many. I have trouble getting less than 100 points lately even
