'A pata' is a female duck and the sentence "A pata come pão" should be a correct answer as well.

Yeah, I realize that now. I just started a few days ago and am getting the hang of it, but I also wasn't sure if there was some language issue that made A pata wrong is this case.

Because its just "The duck eats bread." Not "The duck eats THE bread."
