Hello,

I uploaded a Wikipedia article (RevoluciĆ³n del 43) for translation from Spanish to English recently, and now someone else has uploaded the same article again. I wrote on the guy's wall and asked him to take it down to avoid double work, but there was no reaction.

It may well be an honest mistake, but people could also use double uploads in order to score cheap XP by copying someone else's previous work.

Best, Gregor.

It's not a contest, so they'd only be cheating themselves if they're doing it to score cheap points as you say.

They may not have seen your upload at all, or they may have been inspired by it and wanting to make their own translation of it starting from scratch. If it's the latter, and it still bothers you, just tell them how to make it "hidden" so they can work on it privately. It really is more of a compliment, I'd say. :)
