"Mar" isn't accepted even though it was in "Tá an súile mar réaltaí"

What is the difference in usage between "mar" (Tá an súile mar realtaí) and "cosúil le" (seen here)...?

Tá do chuid fiacla cosúil le réaltaí: tagann siad amach san oíche....

I'm just going to ask the question again in case some of our fantastically helpful people are around to explain further. Can 'mar' be used in place of 'cosúil le' in this sentence? Are there circumstances where you might use one rather than the other?
