The sentence Ta an ceapaire roimhe ..I put "there is a sandwich in front of him" and it was not accepted ...now we have ta translated as "there". Please what isthe difference

The word "an" renders your sentence as "the sandwich is before him". The sentence in this lesson lacks the definite article, so it renders as "There is a bear before me".
