Pode sim só vai mudar o sentido. On além de ser usado para indicar 'contato com uma superfície', ele pode significar também 'proximidade' e ser usado para 'mostrar direção'.

• She lives on the west coast. (Ela vive na (junto a ou próximo a) costa oeste.)

Bro, it's fine, but don't give wrong tips about it , I just finished write "she lives in the west coast" and it was rejected. The only correct answer showed by Duo is "she lives on the west coast".

On the coast is a fixed expression. At the coast just sounds odd...though people would understand what you meant ;)

And "in the coast", which was the correct answer according to Duo, is completely, totally wrong! It sounds like someone is buried up to their necks in the sand at the beach ;)

The phrase «in the west coast» seems pretty awkward to me. One can obviously contrive a context in which it's a reasonable usage, but it wouldn't be my first choice as a translation.

West coast é uma palavra, pois west é uma coisa, coast é outra e a junção éuma terceira diferente. Ainda assim, qual é a palavra mais importante? Coast, logo se west tem que entrar em algum lugar é em lugar de um adjetivo, pronome, numeral ou artigo.

E consideraram errado pq era pra ser "on" no lugar de "in". Diante disso, gostaria de saber qual a tradução correta e o porquê.
