The Little Prince Trailer
I was wandering around Facebook when the French Program at my university posted a link for The Little Prince Trailer. I thought I would share it with everyone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIAbFrMIVbo
Hope you enjoy it and happy learning :)
Edit: The link I originally shared no longer lets people view The Little Prince trailer because it will say that it's "unavailable in your country". Luckily, I was able to find the trailer on Youtube (link found above). Sorry for the inconvenience.
copy and paste from yt comments:
Old man: "Hey, I'm up here. Good evening."
REDISCOVER A TIMELESS STORY
Girl reading page: "Once upon a time, there was a little prince who needed a friend."
LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN IT
Old man narrating: "I've flown almost everywhere in the world and some miraculous things have unfolded."
Little prince: "Please, draw me a sheep."
Old man narrating: "I've always wanted to find someone with whom I could share my story, but I've found that this world has become too adult."
THE LITTLE PRINCE
Old man: "It's just the beginning of the story."
I'm pretty hopeful about this movie -- I haven't even finished my tree yet and I understood a solid third of what was said. (Maybe I should just look into children's movies more...)
I highly recommend it. I have a collection of about 70 Disney movies in French and Chinese on my computer that I watch when I'm bored. The simple language helps you understand and get up to speed on listening comprehension.
Any tips on where to get these?
edit: And do they have subtitles in the foreign language? That would be helpful..
There was a large torrent I found with a collection of Disney movies, but I know torrents aren't what most people prefer. And no, they don't have subtitles.
I find listening to French really frustrating sometimes. I will catch the occassional word, I recognise the sounds, but I can never quite understand enough. It is really frustrating, at the start foreign languages just sound like gibberish to you, but I have now got to the point where it is half gibberish half familiar. I feel so close to being able to understand but I just can't understand enough yet, it frustrates my brain. If I watched this trailer a few more times I may understand more. I would probably do a lot better with subtitles as you say.
This is my biggest pet peeve with American shows and movies! Netflix almost always has Spanish subtitles, and sometimes has Spanish dubs, but they never match! So I can't just turn them both on to use the subs as a crutch when I can't understand the dubs.
I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS. When I saw the trailer I watched it like ten times in a row. It's a very well known book for language learners, and so it's awesome that they're finally making it into a movie, and it looks like it's going to be really good.
I also watched the trailer a few times. I like how the animation and the music seems to blend well together.
Trailer looks awesome, there was no old man in the book though...le petit prince is a must have for budding linguists ^^, I'd recommend picking up one English for reference too and Spanish 'el principito' (if your learning Spanish)
Le Petit Prince is hands-down my favorite book in existence (is it too hipster to clarify I prefer it in the original French?) and when I saw the trailer I cried a little. I'm sure, based off the trailer, it will be adapted to be a better kids movie, but it looked as though the meaning of the book will be kept in tact. And beautiful animation to boot!
I think it's cool that you like Le Petit Prince in its original language because you can get a feel of the book's meaning without having anything lost in translation. I also agree that the animation is beautiful. The song that was playing in the trailer seems to go well with the movie.
Do I really have to wait an entire year before I can see this?! Oh, well. But I cannot wait to see the actual film. I'll have to work even harder so I can understand it! Thanks for sharing the link!
Is anyone unable watch this now? This morning, I watched it a couple of times, now it tells me that the video is "unavailible in my country." Anyone else?
truemi, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I tried to access the trailer on the link I originally shared and came across the same message as you. I was able to find the trailer on Youtube and posted the link for it. I hope you'll be able to access the trailer this time. Have fun watching the trailer :)
