Is "ti rimanesse" an idiom? (To the effect: "...it remained to you a week to live"). And would "avessi" be incorrect?
the pronunciation is very difficult to understand

Why is this reflexive? Why not just “rimanesse”?
The answer is clear: Duolingo!

"What would you do if one week remained for you to live?" should be an accepted translation here.
