- What Are Some Good Dutch Song…
25 Comments
Every year the Dutch can vote to determine the 2000 best songs ever made. The result is called ‘De Top 2000’ and is broadcasted non-stop by Dutch Radio 2 from 12:00 p.m. on the 25th of December to end of the year, so you can listen to the ‘best song ever’ in the last minutes of the year. This year’s list will be released next week (19th of December) but last year’s edition is available here: http://www.radio2.nl/top2000 .
According to this list, the best Dutch songs (ie songs in Dutch) are:

Some other Dutch artists that didn’t make it to the top 100: Bløf, Doe Maar, De Dijk, Frank Boeijen, Herman van Veen, Rob de Nijs, The Scene, Tröckener Kecks, Het Goede Doel
My favorite Dutch song, here performed by Wende Snijders - "Mensch, durf te leven." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPp0I4fA6Lw
And here, again sung by Wende Snijders, in a stripped down version with English subtitles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pcmQ-58Oxo
Thanks a lot for providing links for the lazy, but there are two currently unavailable videos and one wrongly pasted link. FTFY
Ramses Shaffy & Liesbeth List - Pastorale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcKPquVvkuA Acda en De Munnik - Het Regent Zonnestralen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZkbhA1NcTM Boudewijn de Groot - Avond: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWlsA6K5Q-w
Mia - Gorki (RIP Luc De Vos)
Dat ik je mis - Maaike Ouboter
I just did some +- recent (except for Mia) songs I like :)
PS.: And if you're a Frozen fan... Listen to Laat het los or Laat het los! Both karaoke :)
Leuk, I was looking for music genres like Eefje's and Nielson's. Bedankt voor de suggesties!
I particularly liked this duet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ECB5AigzzY (Hoe - Nielson & Miss Montreal)
I got all my American friends obsessed with this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC_kKMHZGpk
I like this small band that nobody knows of... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_4TK_gTxkE
More Eefje bc she's amazing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqUjhn5PZ18
Look at the lyrics of her songs and follow along... It's sometimes hard to understand her because she draws words out for a long time and she also often does this thing where she inserts pauses in weird places, even if the sentence hasn't ended... So it'd help to follow along and look up vocab. :D
Also, if you're anything like me, you MIGHT like this... http://youtu.be/7iZ6GDkQ75o?t=23s
Aplenzusjes are VERY good for vocab and colloquial language. Ik wil altijd in de polonaise lopen. XD

Lyricwise my favorite Dutch song is 'Sterrenstof' by De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig (Youth of Today), I'm not too much into that genre, but they're brilliant in playing with words.. 'Ja ze is praktisch internagelaktisch' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNMXSKfWfLQ
