I love the translate from English to spoken Spanish
I just got this type of question for the first time and it really pushed me. I hope to see a lot more of them.
Really? That sounds like a great question type, it could make me turn my microphone on again.
I just switched my settings to try it out - between my microphone not working in my preferred browser, my ancient built-in microphone and a household with a fear of being quiet and / or silent for five minutes - it just didn't work. I ended up saying "Tú eres un hombre." a dozen times in a row and it didn't matter how slowly or correctly I stated it, it wouldn't let me proceed. I'm guessing I'll have to either keep the settings without a microphone, invest in a better one, or become nocturnal to study Spanish.
That's so weird. I don't think that my pronunciation is great but I don't usually have problems with getting duolingo to accept what I say. Even if I pause or stutter while talking often duolingo will accept it.
Hi, I have been trying to understand more about how the microphone works and why some people are having problems while I am not (as I said my pronunciation is nothing special). The only thing I could find is that the microphone starts recording a couple of seconds after you think it is recording.
When duolingo accepts what you have said it then allows you to listen to it. I found that the very often the first word of what I said was completely missing. Now I pause after hitting the button and I find that it works better.
This may not be the cause of the problem you are having and you may already now about the delay in recording. But I hope that this helps.
My Christmas present includes a brand new microphone, so that will solve that problem for me. I spent the better part of yesterday trying to fix my microphone only to discover that it automatically mutes itself every few minutes for no reason whatsoever. I guess in the mean-time I'll just talk to myself in Spanish out loud.
