"Il mio cane mi segue ovunque vada."
It usually is, but there are a few other ways to get into a subjunctive clause.
The subjunctive is used after indefinite relatives: chiunque venga (whoever comes).
My Maiden and Rombustelli mentions: dovunque (wherever), qualsiasi (whatever), qualunque (whatever), quale che (whatever) but also says that in "informal registers" (common talk?) one often encounters the indicative.
