I was looking through my dictionary and the dictionary says the word for shoe is feminine is that true or can it be both feminine and masculine?

the word "zapato" is masculine in spanish, for example "el zapato" = the shoe. You can't say "La zapato" this would be femenine but it is grammatically wrong.

Hi. There is a rule, but it is not always right. Well, when one spanish word ends in O almost always it is masculine and when the word ends in A this word is feminine. But as I said that rule it is not always true. I hope this will help you. Saludos!
