Should I say "badrum" to mean toilet like it's done in english?

I don't know. I actually use the distinction badrum/toalett but that might be just me. Both are perfectly normal and common.
Well, in American English. In British English a bathroom has to have a bath in it.
Why are there two m's in badrummet if the indefinite form, badrum, only has one?
Is there an extra syllable in the TTS on this one? It sounds almost like "Varje badrummet"... or are my ears playing tricks on me?!
