Duo offers only the translation of "code" here. Why, then, is the "correct" answer entirely different?

I believe the dictionary hints are translating from the verb "cifrar," which means "to encrypt/code." (It's the tu form in the present indicative tense.) Out of context you could mean "You code them" or something like that...but I agreed, it needs to be changed.

yeah, they should really get back here and fix this. If they ask for the noun "cifra", the should give the definition of the noun and not the definition of the verb "cifrar".
