also i've seen that when i'm doing practice, there are cases when i get words that i've not heard about them (new words like hôtel) and it's not the case in which i started a new lesson branch and i'm at the first lesson and i try to practice that lesson and getting words that didn't showed up previously. Is this normal too?

also there are cases when i'm doing a lesson 4 or more times to pass it and each time i get new words and when i fail the lesson i'm at the last phrases in the test (phrases 17-20). is this normal?

My impression is that when I have been doing a lot of practice but not any new lessons, Duolingo starts throwing in plenty of new words to my practice. Maybe it is a hint? It seems to occur less when I alternate new lessons with practice. Personally, I would like to be very confident with the old material before adding in new words, but maybe that is not the best way to improve - Duolingo must have plenty of learning theory built in to its structure by what I can see so far. You can re-do old lessons that you have completed by clicking on them, but you do not gain any skill points, if that is important to you.

i just expected that practice should make some known words even stronger and not introducing new ones, because for new words i wouldn't take a practice, but a new lesson. at least that's how i've imagined that practice works.
