'Min moster är katts mors syster' given in multiple choice: there really should be a word for one's cat's mother's sister. :-)

I got the multiple choice option "Min moster äter min mors syster." which is even better! :-D

Hahahaha that was very clever! I am having a hard time doing this like you guys and gals, like farmor and morfar and farbror and morbror... But it is kind of better when you understand it.

"Min moster är min moders syster." is marked wrong - could someone please explain why? :o

Moder is archaic and not used in normal conversation except for a few fixed expressions.

"min faster är min mammas syster" was marked wrong?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Arnauti

Yes, your faster is your father's sister.

What if she's both? :P

Strange, I tried now "Min faster..." even though I knew it should be wrong but it has been marked correct.

Thanks for pointing that out, I removed it again. Someone probably just added it by mistake. We're not supposed to accept translations that require adding an unlikely context. Maybe someone has en moster who is also their faster – if the aunt in question is a half sister of both of their parents, they wouldn't even have to be related to each other at all – but allowing for odd cases like that would be more misleading than helpful.

Why "Mina moster är mina mors syster" is wrong?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Arnauti

mina is the plural, but your aunt is just one so it must be min moster

Ups, OK! Thanks a lot!

Couldn't it also be "min moster ar min mamma's syster?"

Min moster är min mammas syster. Amrked incorrect. Why?

"Min moster är min mammas syster. " is it correct??

Why is "Min moster är min mors syster" wrong?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Arnauti

That's the suggested answer, so it can't be wrong.

If we say "Min moster är min mors syster" isn't it implied the the aunt is the mothers sister already by saying moster, is there a way to say fathers sister like there is for grandma and grandpa? Like farfar and morfar?
