I first learned 'horse' as 'hest', not 'häst.' I believe it was through Rosetta stone. Is this a mistake? Different dialect?

hest in Norwegian, Danish and Icelandic – but häst in Swedish :)

My swedish is a touch off, but wouldn't gångare also be a horse?

That’s a very poetic or archaic word. I’ve only heard it in folk songs.
