Can someone please explain when to use 'nessuno' and when to use 'niente'?

No expert here but I think nessuno = nobody and niente = nothing

I put 'Nobody speak during dinner', as if the speaker was giving a command. It wasn't accepted as correct.

Am I missing something that would explain why this isn't an appropriate translation? Thanks.

I don't think this sentence makes enough sense or has enough context to be able to be translated properly, so specifically.

I translated this as "No-one speaks during dinner" and DL warned me I had missed a space! I believe "No-one" is a correct alternative to "No one", that is commonly used in the UK, perhaps less so in the US.
