Finished my tree!
Praise the Lord!! I'm so excited to have finished my Spanish tree last weekend. Thank you, Duolingo, and the Duolingo community for making this such a fun and friendly place to learn. I plan to continue to keep my tree gold and I've already started my reverse tree. If I were to start over I would press the "Strengthen Skills" button a lot more often.
To continue learning I plan to listen to more Spanish programs on YouTube, use "Memrise", and start doing immersion when we get our new computer.
Finding a friend who has time to help me practice is something I'm working on too. We live in the Chicagoland area, so there is not a shortage of people who speak Spanish here. My husband is also working on his Spanish tree so we are starting to speak a little bit at home.
Learning Spanish means a lot to me since my grandma was Mexican, but raised her children at a time when many people looked down on Spanish speakers. My mother only knows a few words from her childhood. Even though grandma has been gone a long time, I know my learning Spanish would have made her very happy. Thank you again Duolingo!
Congratulations! If I'm not mistaken, Chicago has a the National Museum of Mexican Art that's worth a visit! I'm glad that you've managed to reclaim a piece of your heritage! May it be the first of many.
Festive joy to you and your kin
The delight in the small steps
that slowly help you to conquer
Language barriers to master
a Spanish joke , and smile
If you really want to continue learning Spanish (not just reviewing), you should definitely do memrise and immersion. Memrise can help expand your vocab (a lot) and then in immersion you can use these words in context. Also watching movies/TV or listening to music/radio/interviews help a lot.
