I Can't Always View the Discussions in Lessons
In the past week or two, I've found that I can only sometimes see the discussions for Duolingo's sentences. I often have a question to ask, but when I click on the discussion button to ask it, nothing happens.
Sometimes whole lessons are like this; other times only some of the discussions are inaccessible for me.
It's possible that this is due to my choice of browser (Sleipnir), and if that's the case, it would be nice if Duolingo fixed anything that makes it incompatible with my browser. I would think that there might be a plug-in or something my browser was missing if it weren't for the fact that it's so hit-and-miss rather than consistently not working.
I don't know if this is a problem Duolingo can fix, so if anyone can help me fix the issue from my end, I would be grateful.
The thing is that the issue doesn't seem to be anchored to specific sentences. A discussion might be viewable one time, but not the next time one comes across the same sentence. Thus, it seems that it is probably a bug brought about by a change in programming sometime--possibly with the demise of the heart system.
That's my experience too - it's not specific sentences that are affected. I have had the same thing happen where an entire lesson is locked out of the discussion, but then I go back later and it works fine, including the sentences that it didn't work for before. For that reason, I don't think that reporting a problem on a specific sentence would be productive and it would probably give them more work to do without getting us a solution.
It was happening before the demise of the heart system and yes it is intermittent and yes the programmers still need to know about each to determine the cause. I have always wondered if when they are working on a section to modify it if this affects it. They need to know not just where but when it is happening. I find it happening on my Android more than on the Web, but that could be coincidental, or it could be that as the younger of the two more bugs are needing to be fixed there.
Oh, you are not the only one. While it has happened to me before, today was much worse than ever before, and btw I always use Firefox, so as others have said, it's certainly not browser-specific. In well over half an hour today I think I was only able to access one discussion out of maybe 20-25 tries (and I was having a lot of trouble with prepositions and could have benefited from the wisdom of the community even more than usual!). I reported it, and hopefully if we hang in there things will improve.
