Early Christmas gift
I received an early Christmas gift today! I finished my Spanish tree!!! I know I'm still a long way off from being conversational, let alone fluent, but this has been a great start. I can't wait to start my next Duolingo goal: a golden tree.
It's not too often that I can say this (or would say this), but I'm proud of myself. Thanks Duo.
Edit: Thanks everyone for all the kind words and Lingots! I wish you all Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
I have just this finished mine too! It was quite a struggle and now I want to get on reading real Spanish, books, newspapers, plays etc which is what I started learning Spanish for.
Thank you, I finished the German tree about 18 months ago, but I still have trouble with newspapers and websites, let alone novels or plays. So I have a long way to go with Spanish. Meanwhile I must resist the temptation to start yet another languages!
good gift. Congratulations. Merry Christmas and Happy new year. If you want to we can teach each other when I have some free. just reply to me. I am from Guatemala. I speak spanish.
Sounds good. I'll get in touch soon as I get back from taking the kids away and we can help each other.
okay, here is my e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org adda me on Skype or facebook. Have a nice day.
Huge apologies to Goodgrief, I had two discussions open in different windows and thought you were replying to me on my thread. That was really rude of me. I'm so sorry about that.
Hopefully he'll get in touch for some experience chatting with you, if not let me know and I will.
Have a great Christmas everyone.
It's all good! This is one big happy community! haha
And thanks ozwaldohm! I will be in touch.
Great job GoodGrief. Have a great Christmas, and enjoy getting that tree golden. Hopefully yours will stay golden longer than mine... it seems every time I check it there is more colour. It was gold last night, and 17 have deteriorated since then!
Here are some recommendations for ways to continue learning:
Memrise (this course is good for common sayings: http://www.memrise.com/course/220723/advanced-spanish-phrases-expressions/)
Read Spanish translations of books you like, and/or watch TV and movies if you prefer
Use Lang-8 to practice writing
Listening Practice: http://www.listeningpractice.org/
Find a Skype partner (preferably a native or at least fluent speaker, you can find them in Groups on Lang-8)
¡Buena suerte y Feliz Navidad!
Hey! congratulations! I want to be like you! Happy Christmas together!
Is that when you finish all the "skills" avaible? And golden one is when you have all of them 100% completed? I myself refresh my skills to gold before i go to learn new ones, anyways, congratulations.
Thank you all for the encouragements! It has been a long time coming but by persevering, I finally completed it. My goal is to have a "golden tree" soon. Then practice my ear to native speakers as well as conversation. To all learners out there, keep at it, it does pay off...
