3.07 on the duolingo spanish language test.

What does that mean? I am assuming that 5.0 is not reachable, well almost so.

5.0 is very well reachable. Those numbers however mostly serve as a way to track your progress. The test always covers the full course so that a 3.07 indicates that you are doing quite well so far but haven't internalised the language completely just yet. Keep going and take another test in a few weeks to see your progress.

My latest score was 3.96. The level however does not have any relation to your understanding of a language - it is merely an indicator of how many XP you have earned.

does this correspond to any level in another system?

I seem to hit tests where I know it and others where I don't, good days/bad days, I wouldn't read too much into it in the short term.

I was taking the test recently, while working on a project, and started getting phone calls and other distractions. Although I know that my level of knowledge was there, the time lapse between my answers seems to have been a factor and I scored well below where I had previously. The take-away, is not to take that test when there is the potential for distraction, and not to read anything into a test score. Enjoy the test as a learning experience and let it show you the areas that you should be working on.

I got 4.55 out of 5.00 after a 4 or 5 month hiatus [using Duolingo at least] but after reviewing for a day or two on Duolingo.
