I have completed it.
Is this solely for the EN > NL course? Or is it also applicable for the NL > EN course, (as I've finished that tree as well)?
Many thanks to the creators!
And a very special thank you to every single person who has taken/is taking the course -- you catch errors within the course and report them, which greatly affects/improves the learning experience for everyone. ^_^
I'm almost there- I hope to be in the first set of 20- what an honor! I have four days until I fly out from het huis van mijn moeder and real life smacks me in the face.... I'm tempted to try to finish the course. Maybe I'll just try just a couple more rounds tonight- is this what an addiction feels like?
I finished the Dutch Course Tree, too, a couple of days ago. It was a very awesome experience, well-built and pretty thorough.
It took me a little longer than others (around 140 days, I did around 2-3 lessons a day). But this is because I tried to squeeze the most I could from the course. My method of approaching it was writing down the new sentences using the good ol' pen and paper, because I felt too superficial only "nailing" each sentence and moving on. This way, I better understood the constructions and I think I also got pretty good at spelling. It was particularly challenging for me since I had never learned a Germanic language (well, apart from English, I guess :) ).
I really enjoyed the progressive integration of past lessons into the later exercises. It was quite good for refreshing vocab and grammar. Also, the more easygoing sentences and specific Dutch cultural exercises were a real nice touch.
Now that I have a good feel of the language, I'm reviewing the Tips & opmerkingen for each lesson, to reinforce my knowledge, while still keeping the Course Tree golden and all skills "strong". Also, I'm doing a quick pass through the English for Dutch speakers course, this time without writing anything down.
At this moment, I feel my weakest points are listening (everyday spoken Dutch is much harder to understand than the Duolingo voice :) ) and actually formulating sentences myself in Dutch. To improve my weak points, I plan on translating more in the Immersion section and watching some Dutch films/videos/news. And since I'm interested in the business/financial world, I've subscribed to the newsletter of Het Financieele Dagblad and I'm making a list of all the specific terms used in the news, while trying to understand as best I can the headlines.
A sincere thank you to the whole Duolingo Dutch team! You guys did one helluva job and though I see you're still struggling to iron out the kinks, you should be really proud of what you have achieved so far, because it really helps out us complete Dutch newbies.
Mijn hartelijke dank, Sebastian
Today I conquered the Dutch (Nederlands) for English speakers tree! And made it all golden as well. Still working on that famous 25-th level though.
I'm going to share my thoughts and observations on the forum soon. For now, I must say that it is the best Duolingo course that I've finished so far. The most useful selection of words, sentences and grammatical concepts but also loads of hilarious sentences were provided.
I just finished the Dutch course and got my golden owl. My tree is entirely golden, too. Bedankt, Team Dutch!
By the way, my favorite sentence was: "Er zit een mannetje in mijn computer!" Pure genius!
I really liked the last two skills, too, as they made me want to visit the Netherlands soon. Well, that's almost completely true. I'll admit that the lesson that had a lot of sentences about all the traffic jams during rush hour briefly dampened my enthusiasm. I got over that, though, and can't wait to go and try out some of the local cuisine! Except maybe I'll pass on the stamppot. . . ;-)
Just finished the Dutch tree... 28-day-streak but I had some knowledge before from doing all Dutch lessons on Babbel. Babbel was essential for learning pronunciation and a base vocabulary of around 2.500 words but Duolingo is much better at explaining things and training the real understanding. I like both and the combination made it easier.
Ik heb de zowel de cursus(tree) af : Ik wil Engels leren (Ik kan Nederlands) als ook de cursus: I want to learn dutch (I know English). Overigens heb ik ook de cursur(tree) af: I want to learn German (I know english). Op het ogenblik ben ik bezig met de cursus (Ich mochte English lernen(Ich kann Deutsch).
Finished my Dutch tree today :) I want to say that you guys have done an absolutely superb job on the incubator. The course has been by far the most entertaining one to follow - I love the touch of humour and the bits on the culture, history, geography and food of the Netherlands. It goes a long way in making the course interesting. Kudos and dank u wel!
Yay! I just concered the Dutch tree. :) I already concered the English tree previously. Compared to most of you it's not much of a feat, since I'm Dutch and already spoke English before joining Duolingo, but I wanted to take this moment to share my favourite sentence:
Wijn is poëzie in een fles.
BTW since I didn't really learn the languages on Duo, there's no need to add me to the list.
My Dutch tree is completely finished and completely golden! I actually finished the tree back on January 16, 2020 but didn’t see this forum until now. I reached level 25 way before I finished my tree and I currently have 113,717 xp. Plus a 738 day streak.
I’m not trying to brag; I’m just really happy with what I’ve been able to learn with consistent practice on Duolingo and I wanted to share that.
Ik wens iedereen die de Nederlandse cursus aan het doen is heel veel succes! Je kan dit!
