Please mark answers incorrect if we leave out accent marks.

I am so lazy with accent marks since you can still get an answer correct if you don't use them. DuoLingo team, would it be possible to get an answer marked incorrect if you leave out the accent or place it incorrectly? Thanks!

no thanks, but maybe a setting where you can opt to have that if you want it.

I think this would drive a lot of people away in frustration. If I'm on a university computer, I don't have access to the language keyboards I need and Timed Practice doesn't leave room for hunting and pecking the onscreen keyboard (Which some of the beta courses don't have yet.)

It is really a good idea for people to make a habit of using the accent marks whenever they have access to the right keyboard. It will help them towards their language goals. But, I don't think I agree that Duolingo should mandate it.

Perhaps make this an optional choice. It would be very difficult on a laptop or phone, which are the main ways I use this website.

Duo has done all sorts of tests, and making it more demanding, as you suggest, will decrease usership. The error is pointed out, that is enough, I think. I learning Spanish conversationall one cannot see accents, so muct lear e'l from el, and tu' from tu, and so on only from context, and es'ta from esta' on;y by hearing them anyway.

A suggestion I saw someone give a while back seemed like a good idea to me, that in non-timed practice, if you omit accent marks you will still get the answer correct but it will not fill as much of the bar. This may help encourage proper usage of accents to complete practice more efficiently. That seems like a lot of effort from the Duo team for something pretty small though.

haha I hear what you're saying but I think at most it should be an optional choice. just keep forcing yourself to use them and it should stick eventually. Buena suerte!

i cant do accents on my computer so it would be a pain to do them. so i think that it should be left alone
